10 Tips for a wedding with a small budget

If you don't have a lot of money for your wedding day or you simply don't want to spend too much, there are various ways to keep your wedding day within budget. You can have everything you want, also on a smaller budget, but you have to be smart about it. Here are the 10 best tips for a wedding with a small budget.

1. Make a budget
Make a budget in advance. Don't start planning your big day without determining how much money you can spend and what you want to spend it on. Request quotes from different parties so that you know your budget is realistic. If you go over budget in one area, this has to be compensated somewhere else in the budget. Keep a close eye on your spending’s.

2. Choose a hospitality location
It may seem super romantic to get married somewhere on an old farm or in an abandoned country house, but if there are no facilities such as toilets, a decent kitchen and sound equipment, this will cost a lot of money. A nice restaurant or party room is therefore a cheaper option.

3. Keep the guest list small
Every person you invite costs money. If you do not have a lot of money then do not invite second cousins that you have not seen for years. Be strict about who you invite and stick to the list of people you really interact with and limit the plus one’s of your guests.

4. Bargaining is allowed!
Of course, a quote is often final, but there is no harm in asking. So always try to get something off the price. Certainly, if you are getting married outside of the high season then it can sometimes be easy to get something off the price. Vendors are less busy and are willing to work cheaper in order to get jobs.

5. Buy your wedding dress in the SALE
In the summer most bridal shops have a sale of the samples from the past season. This is the time to make an appointment. You can often buy a dress with a discount up to 70%!

6. Do your own hair and make-up
There are plenty of videos on YouTube that explain how to do your own hair and makeup. First practice a few weeks of course, but you will be surprised by what you can do yourself with the help of these videos.
